Know who still owes you, and what you owe

You lent a friend Rp1.500.000 for a month. Now it is the 20th, and you cannot remember what came back. Debts keeps one record for each loan: who, how much, the due date, and every repayment. The balance always shows what is left.

Track your first debt

Debts and loans need CatatKoin Pro. Create an account to start.

The CatatKoin Debts page with totals owed to you and owed by you, filters, and a list of debts with balances and due dates

A loan between friends rarely has a paper trail

You say "pay me back next month" and move on. The money comes back in two parts, or you lend a little more. A chat message holds one part. Your memory holds the rest. Later, neither of you agrees on the number.

A debt in CatatKoin is one loan with one person. It has a direction, a balance, and an optional due date. You add each repayment as it happens. The balance changes each time, and the history stays on the page.

Example

The names, amounts, and dates are illustrative. This is not a customer story.

An example: Rp1.500.000 lent to a friend

Rina lends her friend Budi Rp1.500.000 on October 1. He says that he will pay it back by November 1. Rina has a CatatKoin account with Pro, and Budi is already in her contacts.

From a spoken promise to a closed debt

  1. 1

    Add the debt

Open Debts and click Add Debt. Fill in the form:

    FieldExample
    ContactBudi
DirectionI lent them money (they owe me)
Title (optional)Loan for a motorbike repair
    Initial AmountRp1.500.000
    Due dateNovember 1

The debt appears in the list with the label Owed to me. The overview shows Rp1.500.000 under Owed to you.

  2. 2

    Get a reminder

From October 25, which is 7 days before the due date, the debt shows in Reminders. You do not need to keep the date in your head.

  3. 3

    Record each repayment

On October 28, Budi sends Rp600.000. Click Record repayment received and enter the amount. The balance changes to Rp900.000.

  4. 4

    See what is overdue

November 1 passes. The debt now counts as overdue. The overview shows the overdue amount, Rp900.000, and one overdue debt.

  5. 5

Add the rest as it comes

On November 10, Budi pays Rp800.000. The balance is Rp100.000.

  6. 6

    Close the debt

Rina decides to let the last Rp100.000 go. She opens the debt and clicks Settle. CatatKoin records the rest as forgiven, and the debt shows Settled. If Budi pays the last Rp100.000 instead, the balance reaches zero and the debt settles by itself.

  7. 7

Borrowed money works the same way

Say Rina borrows Rp2.000.000 from her brother. She adds a debt and chooses They lent me money (I owe them). The list marks it I owe. She clicks Record repayment made each time she pays him back.
